Japanmuseum SieboldHuis offers the most beautiful from Japan in a historic Dutch house on the Rapenburg in Leiden: prints, lacquerware, ceramics, fossils, herbaria, prepared animals, coins, clothing, old maps and hundreds of other treasures.
All objects were collected between 1823 and 1829 by Bavarian art Philipp Franz von Siebold.
The classic canal house on the Rapenburg was occupied by Siebold from 1832 to 1837. Japanmuseum SieboldHuis has been located here since 2005. In addition to the permanent collection, there are temporary exhibitions on a wide variety of subjects. Japan Museum SieboldHuis is a place where you can gain insight into the past and present of Japan.
